Campbell aims to enhance its e-commerce capabilities

Campbell Soup Company has invested $10 million in Chef’d, an e-commerce meal marketplace, becoming the company’s largest strategic investor. As a result of the move, Chef’d will give Campbell a seat on its board of directors. The company also will help Campbell build its infrastructure and the distribution of meal solutions through the Campbell’s Kitchen site, and offer Campbell insights on e-commerce business models, access to data analytics and insights on shopper behaviors. In addition, the two companies will test capabilities around product innovation and fulfilment during the three-year agreement.

Headquartered in El Segundo, CA, Chef’d offers consumers the opportunity to choose and reorder from hundreds of meals. It partners with notable chefs, culinary personalities and over 125 trusted brands in food, fitness, and health and wellness to offer over 1,000 meal solutions.

 

TreeHouse soup and infant feeding business sold

TreeHouse Foods, Inc.’s soup and infant feeding business has been sold to Riverbend Foods LLC, an affiliate of Insight Equity. Harris Williams & Co. served as the exclusive advisor to TreeHouse in the transaction, which will allow TreeHouse to concentrate on its core strategic growth initiatives.

Focusing primarily on private-label products for retail grocery and food-away-from-home customers, TreeHouse manufactures packaged foods and beverages in over 50 facilities in the US, Canada and Italy. It offers a range of packaging formats and flavor profiles, as well as natural, organic and preservative-free ingredients in many categories.

Pro Mach makes new acquisition

Pro Mach, Inc. has acquired Italy-based, global high-speed labeling solutions provider P.E. Labellers SpA. The acquisition will expand Pro Mach’s capabilities to provide high-speed decorative labeling and integrated solutions worldwide. All global subsidiaries and management teams of P.E. Labellers will join the Pro Mach team. Bruno Negri, co-founder and chairman of the board, and Nicola Schinelli, vice chair, will continue to lead the P.E. Labellers team.
