Constellation Brands Looks to Drive Performance With New Leadership Appointments

The maker of such popular Mexican beers as Modelo, Corona, and Pacifico is expanding responsibilities for corporate leaders throughout the organization.

Constellation Brands, with its popular Modelo and Corona Mexican beers, is the largest beer import company in the U.S. But to sustain that kind of leading performance, the company has announced several changes throughout its leadership structure, in many cases its current leaders expanding their roles further.

“Continuing to invest in our talent to further strengthen leadership capabilities, broaden skillsets and perspective, and to enhance overall business acumen and strategic orientation is foundational to achieving our future ambitions,” says Bill Newlands, president and CEO of Constellation Brands.

Promotions in the beer division

As she continues to lead Constellation’s innovation, consumer insights, and digital functions, Mallika Monteiro is assuming expanded responsibility for beer marketing. Taking on responsibility as managing director of beer brands—in addition to executive vice president, chief growth and digital officer—Monteiro brings prior experience in beer and brand marketing and a deep understanding of consumer trends, preferences, and motivations. Monteiro has continually moved up the leadership ladder since joining Constellation in 2016, initially as vice president of beer innovation.

Matt Lindsay, who joined Constellation in 2022 as senior vice president of brand marketing, has been appointed senior vice president, chief marketing officer for the beer division. Lindsay will lead the company’s beer marketing functions including brand marketing; field, lifestyle and experiential marketing; trade marketing; and marketing enablement.

Moving from a single brand into the the full beer portfolio, Greg Gallagher has been appointed senior vice president of brand marketing. Gallagher formerly served as vice president of brand marketing for Modelo, helping Modelo Especial secure its No. 1 selling position in dollar sales in U.S. tracked channels.

Rene Ramos, who joined Constellation 10 years ago, has been appointed senior vice president of brand activation, with responsibility for field, lifestyle and experiential marketing, and trade marketing.

John Kester has been appointed senior vice president, chief supply chain officer for beer. He joined Constellation in 2014 and has played a key role in enhancing the company’s sourcing, procurement, transportation, and logistics functions. He has 30 years of beer industry experience across all facets of supply chain operations, across multiple geographies.

Other corporate leadership changes

Andrew Zrike has been appointed senior vice president of innovation and consumer insights for the company’s beer and wine and spirits businesses. In this new role, Zrike leads a team responsible for developing integrated brand growth plans, focused on consumer preferences and trends. Zrike joined Constellation in 2019 and has helped lead the development of several consumer-driven innovations, including Modelo Oro, Modelo Aguas Frescas, and Corona Non-Alcoholic.

In addition to her continued oversight of Constellation’s digital, media, and marketing technology functions, Karena Breslin is expanding her responsibilities as senior vice president of digital, transformation, and media. Breslin joined Constellation in 2010 and has increased her responsibilities over time, establishing Constellation’s digital marketing function and accelerating the company’s e-commerce capabilities.

Mike McGrew has assumed expanded responsibilities for corporate strategy and analytics, in addition to leading the company’s communications, ESG, and diversity efforts as executive vice president, chief communications, strategy, ESG, and diversity officer. McGrew has continued to progress in his leadership roles since joining Constellation in 2014.

Michael Becka, who joined Constellation in 2017, has assumed expanded responsibilities as senior vice president of corporate finance. He will lead Constellation’s tax, controller, and treasury teams.


   Live at the Craft Brewers Conference: Brewers Need to Find New Ways to Innovate and Grow

In addition to overseeing Constellation’s enterprise risk management function, Sandy Dominach has assumed expanded responsibilities as senior vice president of beer finance. Dominach has held several finance leadership roles in treasury, financial planning, and enterprise risk management since joining Constellation in 2003.

Joe Suarez has been appointed senior vice president of investor relations. He joined Constellation in 2021 and has focused on evolving the company’s investor engagement strategy.

Steve King has been appointed senior vice president of corporate development, and financial planning and analytics. King has increased his responsibility since joining Constellation in 2008, with roles in audit, financial analysis, financial management, and business development.

“These new leadership appointments will help equip our rising leaders with the perspective and capabilities needed to keep our company on the forefront of emerging consumer and marketplace trends, and they exemplify the deep bench strength of talent we have across the organization to continue driving our business forward,” Newlands says.
