Schwan’s Co. has hired investment bank Piper Jaffray to explore options regarding its future, including a potential sale. Ranked by Forbes as one of the largest private companies in the US, the maker of frozen foods, such as Tony’s pizza, Freschetta pizza, Edwards desserts and Mrs. Smith’s pies, reports approximately $260 million in annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.
Schwan’s could be valued at more than $2.5 billion, should a deal be brokered. However, it is possible Schwan’s may decide to sell off the company piecemeal or not at all.
