Data utilization is a hot topic among packaging and processing professionals. However, finding ways to properly use and measure data to improve production processes is not the only concern. Industry participants are focused on eight solutions for scaling digital connectivity and data capture across packaging lines, plants, and regions.
That’s according to PMMI Business Intelligence’s “Data Acquisition, Sharing and Utilization,” a report that captures insight from packaging and processing end-users and OEMs on obstacles and benefits of integrating growing levels of digital connectivity and data utilization into manufacturing operations for operational efficiency. The report stems from a Q&A session and roundtable discussions between expert panelists and industry participants at PACK EXPO International 2024.
The Business Intelligence team asked participants to vote on which suggested solutions they would most likely implement when looking to scale digital technologies across greater areas of operations. The chart below shows eight areas of focus.
There were two clear winners amongst suggested solutions.PMMI Business Intelligence: Data Acquisition, Sharing and Utilization
Translating data into understandable information came in as the suggestion most likely to be implemented. Meanwhile, creating standards and using valuable, relevant data also took precedence. The other six solutions seemed to be significant to industry professionals as well.
All eight of the solutions could be worthy methods for packaging and processing professionals to use for greater connectivity, data capture, and, ultimately, process improvement.
