The General Mills board of directors has named Jeffrey L. Harmening as chief executive officer, a position he will assume on June 1, 2017; it also elected him to the board of directors. Currently president and chief operating officer of the company, Harmening has been with General Mills since 1994, serving in a number of roles, including senior vice president, CEO of CPW; executive vice president, COO, U.S. Retail; and vice president and senior vice president of the Big G cereal division.

 

Ken Powell, General Mills chairman and CEO since 2007, will serve as the company’s chairman during the transition period until his retirement, which is expected within the next year. 

 

Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, General Mills generated fiscal 2016 consolidated net sales of $16.6 billion and another $1 billion from its proportionate share of joint-venture net sales. Its brands include Cheerios, Annie’s, Yoplait, Nature Valley, Fiber One, Haagen-Dazs, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Wanchai Ferry, Yoki and more.
