TCNA judges selected a tube for Handsfree Sunscreen as the most innovative tube. The sunscreen is marketed by Fountain Valley, CA-based Handsfree Applicators. The polyethylene tube is extruded, decorated and welded by Norden AndBro (Pitman, NJ). Norden AndBro also molds a sponge applicator-head assembly for the tube. The assembly works much like a shoe-polish applicator, allowing users to apply the sunscreen without getting it on their hands. Four varieties are sold in the U.S. and internationally. Product is filled by the Kolmar Div. of Outsourcing Services Group (New York, NY).

Laminate tube of the year was awarded to Melville, NY-based Natural Organics for its Nature's Plus Animal Parade Tooth Gel; tube manufacturer is Cebal Tubes North America, American National Can Co. (Norwalk, CT). Metal tube of the year: New York-based Avon Products for its Avon Retinol Hand Complex; tube manufacturer is Montebello Packaging (Oak Park, IL). Plastic tube of the year: New York-based Elizabeth Arden's Visible Whitening Foaming Cleanser; tube manufacturer is Tubed Products (Easthampton, MA).
