Hormel Foods Completes Solar Array

Installation made at California facility

Hormel Solar Array

Hormel Foods Corporation has completed the solar energy project at its Lathrop, California Foods Swiss American Sausage Company facility, which produces a variety of pepperoni and salami for foodservice pizza toppings. Consisting of approximately 2,000 panels constructed on roof and ground space, the installation is expected to generate around 1.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, which will supply more than 15 percent of the plant’s annual electricity consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 288 metric tons per year.
