FDA warns of unwarranted claims

FDA warned 29 manufacturers, marketers, or distributors of foods made from cherries or other fruits to stop using unproven claims that their products treat or prevent disease on their web sites or product labels.

The offending products are dried fruit, fruit juice, and juice concentrate. Unless corrective action is taken, companies may face seizure of products, injunctions, or criminal prosecution.
