In Canada, Coca Cola eyes coffee market

Tapping into the market for premium espressos and lattes, Coca-Cola Co. launches "Far Coast," its own brand of specialty coffees in Toronto.

Sluggish demand for fizzy drinks, due to a global push to a healthier lifestyle, has driven Coke to target new line of premium coffees and teas to sell through fast-food chains, gas stations, and upscale restaurants. "It's a huge new category for the Coca-Cola company," said Udaiyan Jatar, Coke's premium brewed beverage general manager. "The coffee and tea business worldwide is about twice the size of the soft drinks."
