PMMI expects really big show

The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (Arlington, VA) says Pack Expo 98, November 8-12 in Chicago, will be a record setter. On April 30, exhibit space stood at 1걗꼬 net sq'.

The previous record, set at Pack Expo 96, was 1걎꾹 sq'.

PMMI also has announced the speakers for its "Eye Opener Breakfast Session" programs. Scheduled Nov. 9-11, these are complementary to all registered Pack Expo visitors. Delivering the opening day's keynote address will be Howard Dean, chairman and CEO of Dean Foods, Franklin Park, IL. Packaging for the firm's Milk Chug line of bottled milks (see Packaging World, November '97, p. 54) has wowed industry experts and observers. Dean's address is titled "Packaging--Repositioning Traditional Products for New Growth."

Tuesday's speaker will be Thomas Van Aman, executive vice president for retail measurement product management at Information Resources, Chicago, IL He'll address "Scanning the Market for the Next Retail Packaging Trends."

Finally, on Wednesday is Fred C. Erler, vice president of Nordson and PMMI's chairman of the board. Erler will discuss "The State of the United States and Canadian Packaging Machinery Business."
