Food Stick Loading Systems

ELCAT Food Technology’s automated food stick loading systems combine centrifugal feeding, alignment, vision inspection, and robotic pick-and-place technology to organize and load meat, cheese, and snack sticks into trays for high-speed packaging.

Achieving high productivity in automatic food stick loading requires more than simply increasing machine speed. Meat and snack sticks, cheese sticks and string cheese, sausages and other elongated food products typically enter the process loose and randomly oriented, making consistent product feeding and presentation essential for reliable robotic handling and high-speed packaging operations.

From Randomly Oriented Products to a Controlled Flow

ELCAT Food Technology's centrifugal feeding and alignment systems are designed to transform randomly oriented products into an organized flow ready for automatic handling. Products are progressively collected and aligned, while integrated vision inspection and automatic rejection systems identify and remove non-conforming products from the line. Downstream diverting and compacting stations then prepare the required product arrangement for robotic handling, creating the controlled and repeatable feeding conditions required for high-capacity automatic loading.

Robotic Pick & Place and Automatic Loading

Once the required product arrangement has been created, robotic pick & place stations with tailor-made multi-portion grippers can handle multiple products in each cycle and transfer them according to the required portion and pack configuration. Products can be automatically loaded into thermoformed or preformed trays, or transferred to subsequent processing stages, creating a continuous automated process from bulk product feeding to final loading.

By coordinating feeding, alignment, product preparation and robotic loading, manufacturers can achieve high throughput and greater process stability while reducing manual product handling. A reliable supply of correctly presented products allows robotic and packaging operations to run under consistent and repeatable conditions, supporting continuous high-speed production.

Flexible Configurations for Different Products and Production Capacities

The systems can be configured for a wide range of products and packaging requirements, including meat and snack sticks, string cheese and sausages, with feeding, handling and loading solutions tailored to each application. Different portion sizes, product arrangements and pack configurations can be managed through dedicated recipes, allowing manufacturers to combine high productivity with the flexibility required for multiple products and formats.

For applications requiring greater capacity, ELCAT systems can be engineered with multiple centrifugal feeding units operating within the same integrated line. This scalable configuration provides the feeding capacity required to support higher production rates, allowing the complete feeding and loading process to be engineered around the required output, product characteristics and packaging line speed.

Integration with Downstream Processes

Aligned products can also be transferred to downstream automated processes rather than being loaded directly into packaging. This allows ELCAT to integrate stick feeding with other food automation solutions, creating customized production lines around the complete process, from bulk product handling to subsequent processing or packaging operations.
