Stellar completes construction of food distribution facility

United States Cold Storage has opened a $35 million food distribution facility in Laredo, Texas. Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, designed and built the 232,366-sq-ft warehouse.

A greenfield project, the facility includes a -10°F freezer area, 35°F cooler area, refrigerated loading dock with 21 truck doors, separate cross-dock area with four truck doors for inspections and transloads, state-of-the-art refrigerated repack room and 24,000 sq ft of office space. Stellar also included the option for two additions in the site's master plan to accommodate future growth.

 

Dot Foods breaks ground on new distribution center

Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistributor in North America, has broken ground on its twelfth distribution center. The $36 million, 188,000-sq-ft facility will be constructed in Bear, DE. Dot estimates the project will be complete in autumn 2019 and plans to hire up to 125 people in the first year to work at the facility.
