A new study from PMMI Business Intelligence predicts continued growth for automation. Machine to machine communication is paramount. The study, “2018 Food and Beverage Processing Report,” cites growth in the use of PLCs, servos and software to improve safety, offer real-time monitoring, improve machine vision inspection, provide data collection, and above all, focus on machine to machine communication.

This is necessary, in no small part due to food processing machine OEMs focusing on one particular specialized niche. This means it is hard for CPGs to find providers of whole systems and integrating machines from various suppliers is critical. This especially means growth of IOT applications such as Industry 4.0 that will then connect the integrated line to the enterprise.
