Nestlé eyeing Canadian pet food giant

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nestlé SA is in talks to purchase a major stake in one of Canada’s most successful consumer products companies, Champion Petfoods LP, for more than $2 billion. Champion makes what it calls “biologically appropriate” pet food, manufactured to European pet food standards. To date, no comments about the potential deal have been made by Nestlé or Champion representatives.
