Selig Group closure seal facility achieves BRC/GFSI Certification

Selig Group’s Forrest, IL closure seal manufacturing facility has received the highest level certification, Grade A, under the British Retail Consortium‘s (BRC) Global Standards for Packaging and Packaging Material; Selig is believed to be the only global liner supplier to have achieved this significant industry recognition.

By utilizing principles from ISO, HACCP, and GMP, the BRC has become one of the most highly respected food safety standards in the world.

Selig’s BRC audit was conducted at Selig - Forrest on July 24-25th, 2014 by one of the major certification bodies in the world, UL-DQS, Inc. By receiving an A-grade rating, Selig – Forrest has significantly strengthened its food safety standards and practices.

The BRC certification is one of several progams that meet the requirements of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The GFSI is an internationally recognized food safety standard that has been led by several major food retailers and producers, such as McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Walmart, Mondelēz, and Danone. The GFSI charter is continuous improvement of food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide.

Selig Group’s Swiss and UK operations have previously received BRC Grade A Certification. In addition, Selig-Canada is currently preparing for BRC certification, converting its food safety standards from the ASI certification program.
