ThermoSafe, a distributor in temperature assurance packaging, announces the launch of the biodegradable EPS QPMC pallet shipper. This solution offers a breakthrough in sustainable thermal packaging, combining high performance with environmental responsibility.
The ChillTherm Bio pallet shipper delivers consistent 120-hour thermal performance at 2°C to 8°C, under the demands of global air freight. Designed for high-volume distribution of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and biologic products, this shipper ensures regulatory compliance, reduces excursion risk, and meets sustainability targets. With the benefit of arriving flat-packed for efficient storage, it supports scalability without sacrificing warehouse space or operational flexibility.
Biodegradable expanded polystyrene (Bio EPS), which performs identically to standard EPS in terms of thermal insulation, durability, and distribution testing offers two end of life options: it can be recycled via drop-off programs alongside standard EPS or it can biodegrade over 90% within four years in a microbial-rich landfill environment. In comparison, standard EPS showed just 5.75% biodegradation in the same timeframe. This has potential to reduce landfill mass while also still supporting the recycling stream of EPS, where facilities exist.
Operators will also appreciate the time and labor savings from a design which eliminates the need for bench-conditioning of coolants. The ergonomic design minimizes the risk of shoulder injury during assembly supporting safety among warehouse operators. With a full Euro pallet payload capacity and a lighter tare weight than leading alternatives, shippers also benefit from lower freight costs — making it both an economical and sustainable choice.
