J.M. Smucker has announced it has exceeded its 2020 environmental impact goals, reinforcing a commitment to supporting a healthier planet for future generations as part of its Thriving Together philosophy.
The goals around waste-to-landfill diversion, the reduction of water-use-intensity, and the reduction of greenhouse-gas-emissions-intensity were established using 2014 data as a baseline.
Among the company’s accomplishments are:
· Surpassing its landfill diversion goal of 95%, scoring 96.2% instead
· Racking up an 18% water-use-intensity-reduction result vs. the company’s goal of 15%
· Reducing GHG emissions intensity by 26.1%, more than 15% higher than Smucker’s original goal of 10%

“We are incredibly proud to have exceeded our 2020 environmental impact goals thanks to the hard work of our employees and partners,” says Mark Smucker, president and CEO. “This work has not only supported our commitment to ensuring a healthier planet, it has inspired passion across our organization to continue identifying and implementing projects that further reduce our environmental footprint. Our progress has also inspired us to develop a new set of environmental impact goals, which we will share as part of our upcoming 2021 Corporate Impact Report."
According to J.M. Smucker, “Each generation of consumers leaves their mark on culture by establishing new expectations for food and the companies that make it. At The J.M.
