Smucker Exceeds 2020 Environmental Impact Goals

Exceeding its waste-to-landfill diversion, reducing water-use-intensity, and reducing greenhouse-gas-emissions-intensity goals reinforces Smucker’s commitment to supporting a healthier planet.

J.M. Smucker has announced it has exceeded its 2020 environmental impact goals, reinforcing a commitment to supporting a healthier planet for future generations as part of its Thriving Together philosophy.

The goals around waste-to-landfill diversion, the reduction of water-use-intensity, and the reduction of greenhouse-gas-emissions-intensity were established using 2014 data as a baseline.

Among the company’s accomplishments are:

·        Surpassing its landfill diversion goal of 95%, scoring 96.2% instead

·         Racking up an 18% water-use-intensity-reduction result vs. the company’s goal of 15%

·         Reducing GHG emissions intensity by 26.1%, more than 15% higher than Smucker’s original goal of 10%
