Power Central showcased its new food-industry-specific Microsoft Dynamics 365 enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for small and mid-size food companies in need of affordable growth tools at PACK EXPO Las Vegas. The company built barcode scanning mobile apps and real-time business intelligence onto Microsoft's existing Dynamics 365 Business Central 365 ERP and Power BI, with enhancements specifically designed for smaller food makers who haven’t had the budget to access real-time manufacturing data and insights. The apps are compliant with iOS and Android smartphones as well as industrial Android based barcode scanners that can scan from four to 30 feet away, and can accept digital signatures.
"You get everything a company needs, from financials to operations, to sales, inventory, production orders–so most of the packaging items that a food company needs are built on that Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP backbone," said Viswanath Puttagunta, president and CTO, Power Central.
The Power Central ERP replaces the time-consuming process of entering data into the ERP. The company’s addition of barcode mobile apps that talk directly to the ERP speeds up that process and allows its customers to locate LOTs and bins for the correct production pick and ease shipment label preparation so that human resources can be reallocated to more productive tasks. This then eliminates manual processes that previously wouldn’t allow these small and mid-size companies to optimize their production runs and reduce operational overhead.
"Everything is automatically sorted by the FIFO order, so the warehouse staff picks the right LOT and SKU to comply with SQF and FSMA. Our system does this instantaneously because it was made specifically for it," said Puttagunta.
