Flexible packaging dominates baked foods market with a 76% share of all packaging materials

According to Euromonitor, Kellogg’s brand by The Kellogg Company, (which includes Pringles, Nutri-Grain and Cheez-It) leads the baked foods category in the U.S. in 2018. Little Debbie brand from McKee Foods holds the second spot.

Entenmann's, from Bimbo Bakeries USA, is tied for the third-place leading brand with Nature’s Own from Flowers Foods, Inc.  Finally, Thomas, also from Bimbo Bakeries USA, holds the fourth place for top brand for baked foods in the U.S.  Thomas produces english muffins, bagels, pita bread and wraps.  Rankings are based on total retail sales.

 

In addition to the dominance of flexible packaging, Euromonitor reports that paper-based materials claim a market share of 24% of all packaged baked foods.  There is relatively little metal or rigid packaging used in the baked foods market, combining for only 0.5% of total.
