Purchase expands ABB’s presence on the factory floor

ABB has purchased B&R, expanding its product line to offer an entire range of technology and software solutions around measurement, control, actuation, robotics, digitalization and electrification. The purchase price was estimated to be approximately $2 billion and is expected to close by mid-year.

B&R is the world's largest independent provider of product- and software-based, open-architecture solutions for machine and factory automation.

ABB works closely with utility, industry, transport and infrastructure customers in roughly 100 countries. With more than four decades at the forefront of digital technologies, the company is a leader in digitally connected and enabled industrial equipment and systems, with an installed base of more than 70,000 control systems connecting 70 million devices.
