Suggestions of inspectors being stationed in drug manufacturing plants, or fines being assessed, are looked at with skepticism by some. Too few inspectors, lack of familiarity with certain kinds of drugs, and possibilities of corruption are also viewed as reasons to worry about public safety. Severe punishment, including license revocation and life sentences, is thought to be the only way to improve drug safety and stop illegal profits, according to the CPPCC.
