Volkmann Inc. recently held an advanced training course for a number of their manufacturers representatives at the company headquarters and manufacturing base in Soest, Germany.

Hp 19857 Volkman
A total of 11 representatives covering 16 states, Canada and Puerto Rico, made the trip which covered advanced conveying techniques, testing procedures, hands on assembly, fault finding and presentations on ATEX certification for explosion proof applications.

Nick Hayes, President of Volkmann Inc., stated “The primary objective of the training was to ensure that each representative was completely comfortable with the technical aspects of our vacuum conveying systems covering lean, dense and plug flow conveying. This in turn will allow them to guide clients in the selection of the correct equipment and to be able to support clients through order to installation and on to the after-sales support stage.”

Additional objectives of the training were to make each representative familiar with the operations of Volkmann and to meet the staff at headquarters, to see the lean manufacturing systems employed that produce quick deliveries, as well as the modern CNC based manufacturing capabilities. Representatives were also able to visit ATEX Fire and Explosion Ltd's test laboratories and to see first-hand how Minimum Ignition Energy levels are established as well as seeing highly memorable practical demonstrations of powder explosions using starch and flour dusts clouds.
