Jack Link’s to Expand Iowa Facility

The project will expand warehouse capacity of the existing distribution facility and add an automated storage and retrieval system to improve its capacity and efficiency.

Jack Link’s Protein Snacks, the number one meat snack brand in the U.S. and the largest maker of protein snacks worldwide, has broken ground on an expansion of its distribution center in Underwood, Iowa. In addition to increasing the current warehouse capacity, updates will include the installation of a highly automated storage and retrieval system. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2023.

Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction, and mechanical services worldwide, will be responsible for planning, pre-construction, construction management, and building envelope, as well as architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical, and plumbing design of the project, at Jack Link’s Protein Snacks’ Underwood, Iowa, facility.

“Our design integrates automation into the new space, resulting in increased productivity, accuracy, and efficiency at the facility,” says Kimberley Stanton, Stellar design project manager.  

“As Jack Link’s first AS/RS facility, this expansion will allow the company to meet increasing demand from their customers,” adds Thomas Ansell, lead construction project manager with Stellar. “We are excited for this opportunity to incorporate cutting-edge technology at Jack Link’s that will help carry the company into its next decade of business.”
