Juice percentage petition

The Florida Department of Citrus may petition FDA for a new federal regulation requiring that all juice products display the percentage of juice in large type on the front label.

The percentage of juice is required on labels now, but it is usually displayed in small print on the back or the sides of the package. Studies have shown that few consumers can distinguish between 100% orange juice and beverages with lower juice content. The regulation would apply to any product that claims to be juice, including “fruit drink” products.
