Danone Reaches Sustainability Milestone

Company announces “Zero Waste to Landfill” achievement at Minster, Ohio plant, now the second Danone North America zero waste facility

Danone North America Minster, Ohio Plant

The Danone North America Minster, Ohio plant has completed an complex review and conversion process in under two years, making it a “zero waste” facility. The Danone North America zero waste effort involves a constant evaluation to optimize the choice and usage of materials and the commitment to eliminate waste, not just treat it. It defines “Zero Waste to Landfill” as:

  • Less than 1% of non-hazardous waste disposed to landfill
  • No hazardous waste sent to landfill
  • No incineration without energy recovery, except for hazardous waste disposal as required by law
  • Less than 50% of waste processed into a fuel source

The Danone North America Bridgeton, N.J. facility achieved zero waste status in June of last year.
