
The Danone North America Minster, Ohio plant has completed an complex review and conversion process in under two years, making it a “zero waste” facility. The Danone North America zero waste effort involves a constant evaluation to optimize the choice and usage of materials and the commitment to eliminate waste, not just treat it. It defines “Zero Waste to Landfill” as:
- Less than 1% of non-hazardous waste disposed to landfill
- No hazardous waste sent to landfill
- No incineration without energy recovery, except for hazardous waste disposal as required by law
- Less than 50% of waste processed into a fuel source
The Danone North America Bridgeton, N.J. facility achieved zero waste status in June of last year.
