Power Packaging gains safe food certification

Power Packaging announces Safe Quality Food Level 3 certification at Rosendale, WI, plant.

Power Packaging, an Exel company, announces the achievement of Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 certification at the Rosendale, Wisconsin, manufacturing plant. SQF is a food safety certification based on international standards, as set forth by the Global Food Safety Initiative. All of Power Packaging’s plants are SQF Level 2 certified, covering all aspects of the food safety code. The newly incorporated SQF Level 3 includes quality programs such as package weight control, product sensory evaluation and preserved products identification.

“This is an important milestone in our efforts to attain the highest level of food safety and quality assurance at Power Packaging,” says President Gordon Gruszka. “Thesetypes of certification achievements set us apart from our competition. We want to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to food safety and quality so we are in the process of rolling out a strategy across the company to get all of our plants elevated from SQF 2 to SQF 3 certified.”

Leahy-IFP, a co-packer that specializes in the production of premium foodservice products, has been a customer of Power Packaging for more than 20 years. According to President and CEO Michael Leahy: “Superior quality and premiere food safety levels are a priority for us. Working with a partner who shares those standards is vital. By working together, we offer customers unparalleled results.”
