Tyson Foods Breaks Ground on $180 Million Illinois Facility Expansion

The company is investing $180 million to add automated warehousing and robotics, and create seven new production lines.

News Tyson Caseyville Prepared Foods Grounbreaking

Tyson Foods has broken ground on an $180 million expansion project at its Caseyville, Ill., prepared foods facility. The expansion will increase automation and create seven new production lines at the site to help meet the growing demand for Tyson Foods’ Hillshire Farm and Jimmy Dean products. The expansion also is expected to create 250 approximately new jobs. The Caseyville facility currently employs 293 team members.

The 170,000-sq-ft expansion project will be completed in phases, with the first line is expected to begin production this fall and the majority of work being complete by next summer. The project is being untaken specifically to increase the production of grab-n-go snacking and breakfast items currently being made at the Caseyville site.

Tyson Foods leadership, along with state and local officials, celebrated the expansion groundbreaking. “We’re thrilled to celebrate the expansion of our Caseyville prepared foods plant, creating new job opportunities for those in the community and keeping ease and efficiency in mind for our current team members,” says Noelle O’Mara, group president, prepared foods, Tyson Foods. “With automated warehousing and robotics at the heart of the project, we’re looking forward to its full completion.”
