Kikkoman Foods, Inc. (KFI), Kikkoman Corporation’s U.S. manufacturing subsidiary, held an opening ceremony for its new production plant in Jefferson, Wis., which is expected to begin sending shipments in October.
The Jefferson plant is KFI’s third production plant in the U.S., following its headquarters plant in Walworth, Wis., which began shipments in 1973, and its Folsom, Calif., plant, which began shipments in 1998. The new facility also marks the Kikkoman Group’s ninth soy sauce production base outside Japan.
Construction on the Jefferson plant began in April 2024, and soy sauce brewing operations started in May 2026. The facility will produce soy sauce and soy sauce-related seasonings, supporting Kikkoman’s efforts to meet growing demand in North America, which the company identifies as the largest market in its overseas business.
According to Kikkoman, the Jefferson plant is intended to strengthen the company’s supply framework in North America while producing a range of products tailored to customer needs. The facility sits on a 100-acre site and includes approximately 240,000 sq ft of total floor space. Planned investment over a 10-year period is approximately $560 million.
