Fruit Stripe Gum, which had been on the market for over 50 years, was discontinued in early 2024.

Fruit Stripe Gum emerged in the market in the early 1960s, sporting iconic zebra-themed wrappers and unforgettable fruit flavors. The gum’s sweet taste was known to fade quickly, and while the product lasted for 54 years, it too, eventually came to an end.

Ferrara Candy, the latest manufacturer of the gum, released a statement on the news in early May.

“We have made the difficult decision to sunset Fruit Stripe Gum, but consumers may still be able to find the product at select retailers nationwide,” the company stated.

Fruit Stripe Gum had an intriguing history, and the decision to discontinue the product was multifaceted.
