  • Nestlé SA announced Ulf Mark Schneider will become its new chief executive officer.
  • Robert Long is joining Del Monte Foods as vice president and chief information officer.
  • French yogurt-maker Danone has announced a $12.5 billion deal to buy The WhiteWave Foods Co., a Denver-based producer of plant-based foods and beverages.
  • China-based Alibaba, the world’s largest online and mobile e-commerce company, and Mars Inc. have announced a partnership to sell Mars brands in China on Tmall.com and Ruraltaobao.com.
  • Thomas P. Werner, current president of commercial foods at ConAgra Foods, is set to become chief executive officer of Lamb Weston and a director on the Lamb Weston board. Timothy R. McLevish will be the executive chairman of the Lamb Weston board of directors. Both will assume their new positions once the spinoff of Lamb Weston has been completed.
  • The merger of Delhaize, the parent company of Food Lion, with the Dutch grocery chain Ahold is expected be completed by the end of July, creating Ahold Delhaize, which will have more than 6,500 stores around the world.

  • David Andrulonis has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of Tekni-Plex, Inc.’s global Tri-Seal closure liners business unit. Kirk Rumsey has been promoted to vice president of procurement and general manager of the company’s US Tekni-Films business.
