SweetWater Brewing Company Being Sold

Canadian cannabis company Aphria is buying SweetWater to help with its expansion plans and access to the U.S. market more quickly in the event of federal cannabis legalization.

Atlanta-based SweetWater Brewing Company is set to be acquired by Canadian cannabis company Aphria for $300 million. SweetWater CEO Freddy Bensch will remain in his position and will operate in a consulting capacity through 2023.

Headquartered in Leamington, Ontario, Aphria Inc. produces adult-use cannabis brands, including Broken Coast, Good Supply, Riff, and Solei. The transition is expected to close by the end of the year.
