Ciba introduces oil and water repellent for paper

REPORTING FROM PACK EXPO: The new Lodyne® water-based fluorochemical from Ciba Specialty Chemicals is a high-performance oil, grease and water repellent suitable for paper, paperboard and molded paper products.

Ciba's (High Point, NC) Lodyne 2000 is suitable for use in applications such as pizza boxes, fast food containers, potato chip bags and paper packaging for butter, chocolate and other food wrap packaging.

Ciba tells Packworld.com the material has been approved by the US Food & Drug Administration to use as an oil and water repellent in paper and paperboard in direct contact with nonalcoholic food as specified under FDA Regulation 21 CFR, 176.170 and dry food under FDA Regulation 21 CFR, 176.180.
