The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified a recall of Horizon Organic’s Chocolate Organic Lowfat Milk May 5, due to a packaging issue affecting more than 63,000 cartons across four states.

The Cass II recall of 6-packs of 8 fl. oz Shelf Stable 1% Lowfat DHA Omega-3 Chocolate Milk Boxes was first announced on March 11. The FDA defines a Class II recall as a situation in “which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” or “where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

At the time, Horizon Organic said the recall was due to a packaging issue that may have caused the cartons to bloat, leak, or spoil.

Cartons affected were distributed in Ariz., Calif., Nev., and Ore.

No other Horizon Organic products are impacted by this recall.
