On May 29, Tyson Foods temporarily closed its Storm Lake, Iowa pork plant after 555 employees, approximately 22% of its workforce, tested positive for the coronavirus virus. The plant typically slaughters over 17,000 pigs a day when running at full capacity. Tyson hopes to reopen the facility later this week, following additional deep cleaning and sanitizing of the site.
