
Taylor Farms had established a decades-old processing facility responsible for most of its leafy green production. However, the company was hit with a major challenge, and they responded with intention, as reported by Michael Costa.
In April 2022, Taylor Farms’ flagship foodservice production facility in Salinas, Calif. suffered a devastating fire that destroyed 60,000-sq-ft of processing space. The company rebuilt from scratch under a one-year deadline and now has a state-of-the-art processing plant with a weekly production volume of 15 million lb of fresh produce.
The company rebuilt its primary facility on the same real estate as its original one. Yet several key points of emphasis, including rerouting production, sanitation strategies, and production efficiencies were needed to make the project successful.
