Contract manufacturer Taylor Farms Pacific, in Tracy, Calif., is recalling approximately 19,976 pounds (9.9 tons) of Kroger-branded ready-to-eat (RTE) apple walnut with chicken salad bowls due to misbranding, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The product may contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the recalled items.
These products were shipped to retail locations in Ala., Ariz., Calif., Colo., Idaho, Mont., Nev., N.M., Ore., Utah, Wash., and Wyo. The problem was discovered by Taylor Farms Pacific during a routine quality assurance check of ingredient labels. The contract manufacturer then notified FSIS that the product may contain wheat, which is not declared on the label.
