Contract manufacturer CJ Foods of Beaumont, Calif., is recalling approximately 61,839 pounds (30.91 tons) of Trader Joe's steamed chicken soup dumplings that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Those at FSIS say the problem was discovered after CJ Foods received complaints from consumers about finding hard plastic in the dumplings. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury so far due to consumption of these products.

The steamed chicken soup dumplings were produced by CJ Foods on Dec. 7, 2023, and shipped to Trader Joe's locations nationwide. The recalled products are 6-oz boxes with plastic trays containing six pieces of Trader Joe's steamed chicken soup dumplings, with lot codes 03.07.25.C1-1 and 03.07.25.C1-2 printed on the side of the box.
The products subject to recall also bear establishment number P-46009 inside the USDA mark of inspection in the lower left corner of each box.
Consumers who purchased these products are urged by FSIS not to consume them, but to dispose of the dumplings or return them to the place of purchase.
