Trader Joe's Chicken Soup Dumplings Recalled for Possible Plastic Contamination

More than 30 tons of the product is being recalled after consumer complaints about plastic in the dumplings, possibly from a permanent marker pen.

Contract manufacturer CJ Foods of Beaumont, Calif., is recalling approximately 61,839 pounds (30.91 tons) of Trader Joe's steamed chicken soup dumplings that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Those at FSIS say the problem was discovered after CJ Foods received complaints from consumers about finding hard plastic in the dumplings. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury so far due to consumption of these products.
