Diageo North America is opening a new $80 million facility in Plainfield, Ill. Included in the site will be a 500 cans/min line and a 1,200 cans/min line to support the company’s growth in the ready-to-drink (RTD) category. With the addition of the new lines, the site will have the capacity to produce over 25 million cases of RTDs per year, including Smirnoff seltzers and the newly launched spirits-based RTD cocktails from Crown Royal and Ketel One Botanicals.
The facility, which is expected to be operational this summer, will create approximately 50 full-time jobs.
