Royal Canin North America is investing $390 million to build a 450,000-sq-ft facility in Lewisburg, Ohio, on the same property where it currently operates its Pet Health Nutrition Center, the company’s global research and development hub. The new facility, which will manufacture Royal Canin and EUKANUBA health and nutrition products , will be built to meet leading-edge environmental standards.
Construction of the new site is projected to begin this May; operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2023, bringing more than 224 new jobs to the area. The company will pursue LEED Silver Certification of the site upon completion.
The new Lewisburg, Ohio facility will join Royal Canin’s five other manufacturing sites across the U.S. and Canada. The new factory is part of a broader growth plan for Royal Canin, which recently announced plans for a $200 million expansion at its Lebanon, Tenn. facility.
A Mars Petcare brand, Royal Canin manufactures and supplies cat and dog food, and is committed to science-based research and innovation that provides formulas with individualized nutritional solutions for cats and dogs.
“Our investment in the new Ohio manufacturing facility will enable us to meet the ever-growing needs of pets and their owners across North America," says Cecile Coutens, president, Royal Canin North America. “As industry leaders in pet health, we have a tremendous responsibility to make a healthier life for pets through our tailored nutrition, in partnership with pet professionals who share our same purpose. Our new site will help ensure we can serve more pet owners and bring our nutrition to more cats and dogs than ever before.”
