Mount Franklin Foods, a leading manufacturer of branded, contract, and private label confectionery, nuts, snacks, and foodservice products, has broken ground on a 280,000-sq-ft expansion of its state-of-the-art candy manufacturing facility in San Jeronimo, a port of entry in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, across the U.S. border from Santa Teresa, N.M., and close to the company’s headquarters in El Paso, Texas.
The addition to the existing facility will more than double its square footage and increase its capacity by 140 million lb annually. The new facility will produce soft candy items, such as gummies and jellies, and will enable Mount Franklin Foods to continue to innovate with the development of new products.
Expected to open in January 2024, the new facility will ensure Mount Franklin Foods can continue to meet and exceed production demand for its core products. The expansion also is expected bring more than 400 new jobs to the area.
