The J. M. Smucker Company has released its 2018 Corporate Responsibility Report, which details the progress of many of its sustainability practices.
Among the company’s achievements are the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and water usage; increasing the amount of waste it diverts from landfills; sourcing 10 percent of its total retail coffee from certified green coffee sources; utilizing in-depth programs to responsibly source coffee, fruit, palm oil, peanuts, pepper, quinoa, seafood and specialty corn; ensuring 100 percent of its direct palm oil is purchased from responsible, certified sources; and strengthening its Responsible Sourcing Program to ensure that, over time, all ingredients are sourced ethically throughout the supply chain.
