Nestlé Purina PetCare is planning to invest approximately $450 million to open a new 1.3 million-sq-ft factory in Eden, North Carolina. The project will transform a former brewery into a technically advanced pet food manufacturing facility, designed with sustainability in mind, including a commitment to send zero waste for disposal, production processes that recover and reuse heat and water, and making the facility 100 percent powered by renewable electricity in the shortest practical time frame. Projected to become operational in 2022, the plant is expected to plan to employ more than 300 people.
