Mokon, an international expert in high-quality circulating liquid temperature control systems since 1955, has announced two new refrigerants, R-454B and R-513A, that will have a lower environmental impact, feature an updated design, and provide accurate and reliable process control. These refrigerants have cooling capacities up to 60 Tons and will be part of a new line of portable chillers and full range systems that reduce the amount of heat trapped by greenhouse gases, resulting in refrigerants with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
Both refrigerants have low toxicity and do not contain chemicals that harm the ozone layer. This helps them comply with recent US government standards requiring manufacturers to use refrigerants with a GWP below 700, as R-454B has 446 GWP and R-513A has 572 GWP.
“Our two new refrigerants have been rigorously tested and refined to offer users the same Mokon quality our systems have been known for while also complying well within GWP standards,” says Dan Healy, Mokon’s General Manager. “We will continue to provide long-term support to all of our systems currently in use, including the R-407C and R-134A. Parts and gas will remain available for the next several years and customers will continue to be allowed to service and repair their units.”
