Nestlé Purina PetCare has announced it is investing $110 million to expand its petfood facility in Clinton, Iowa, with the addition of a 90,000-sq-ft warehousing facility with automated technology to help support the company’s continued growth. The project will create 15 new jobs in the Clinton area.
The state of Iowa will provide $1.5 million dollars in work tax credits and sales tax refunds for the project. The city also has approved additional tax abatement.
“Because of the demand for quality petfood they need some more space to be able to store all their finished products. So they’re going to invest in a 90,000-sq-ft warehousing facility,” says Andy Sokolovich, president and CEO of Grow Clinton.
The project announcement comes slightly over three months after Purina PetCare completed a $156 million expansion of its Clinton factory, a project that expanded the capacity and production capabilities for the company’s petcare brands. It also added a technical training center. The facility produces dry petfood and snacks.
“Nestlé Purina’s continued investment in the Greater Clinton Region is proof that our area boasts a business-friendly environment with the infrastructure and resources necessary to be successful,” adds Sokolovich. “The company hosts a positive culture focused on the well-being of its team, our community, and the manufacturing of quality petfood. I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with their staff, supporting yet another milestone for the Clinton facility.”
In addition to the Clinton facility, Purina operates facilities in Fort Dodge and Davenport, employing approximately 1,400 people in total in the state of Iowa.
