Tyson building plant in northeastern Kansas

New facility will process 1.25 million birds a week

Tyson Foods Inc. is planning to spend $320 million to build a new chicken-processing plant, as well as a hatchery and feed mill, on a 300-acre site approximately 30 miles west of Kansas City, KS. Construction is expected to begin this fall and is projected to be complete in mid-2019. The plant will employ 1,600 people. Tyson currently operates six plants in Kansas, employing approximately 5,700 workers.
