St. Louis-based consumer packaged goods holding company Post Holdings has announced its Michael Foods unit is planning to spend $146 million to expand its Nowalk, Iowa, egg production facility. The price tag includes buying machinery and equipment to increase the site’s production capacity.
The project will add an estimated 132,000 sq ft, nearly doubling the size of the existing 150,000-sq-ft facility, which has been processing eggs and precooked egg products since its opening in 2019. Scheduled to begin this July, the expansion project is expected to be complete in December 2024, and will create an estimated 186 new jobs.
The Iowa Economic Development Authority board approved $4.27 million in tax credits for the project through the state’s High Quality Jobs Program, according to the Des Moines Register.
