Bertagni 1882 USA Inc., a subsidiary of Ebro Foods, plans to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in St. Charles, Mo., investing $36.4 million and creating 150 jobs over two phases.
The investment expands the Italian pasta maker's North American manufacturing footprint while strengthening its nationwide production and distribution capabilities.
According to the company, the facility will manufacture meat-filled pasta specialties, allowing Bertagni to broaden its product portfolio, improve supply chain resilience through U.S.-based production, and supply fresh products to retail customers.
"The acquisition of the St. Charles facility marks an exciting new chapter for Bertagni," says Enrico Bolla, managing director and co-founder of Bertagni 1882. "It will allow us to expand into meat-filled specialties, enhance supply chain security through U.S.-based production, and deliver fresh products to our retail partners while continuing to provide the award-winning Italian quality we have perfected since 1882."
Founded in 1882, Bertagni produces filled-pasta products for retailers, specialty food channels, delicatessens, and private-label customers in markets spanning five continents. The company says the Missouri operation will provide access to a skilled manufacturing workforce, multimodal transportation infrastructure, and a central U.S. location to support future growth.
State and local officials say the project reinforces Missouri's position as a food and beverage manufacturing hub.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe says the state's central location, agricultural base, and logistics infrastructure helped attract the investment. Local officials, including St. Charles Mayor Dan Borgmeyer and representatives from the Economic Development Council of St. Charles County, Greater St. Louis Inc., the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Missouri Partnership, also cited the region's workforce, manufacturing base, and business climate as factors supporting the project.
The project is a collaboration among Bertagni 1882, Missouri Partnership, the City of St. Charles, the Economic Development Council of St. Charles County, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Missouri One Start, Greater St. Louis Inc., Spire, Ameren, and Gilmore & Bell.
